How to select rectifier diodes in electronic circuits and what are the conventional selection skills?

1. When selecting rectifier devices, first calculate the current and voltage parameter requirements. However, in practical application, considering various factors such as power grid fluctuation, calculation error, product use place, shell material, heat dissipation material and space, rectifier devices with calculation parameters of about 1.2-2-3 times are usually selected for safety.

2. Considering the power consumption of rectifier devices, under the same current and voltage, selecting rectifier devices with low VF and IR can reduce the power consumption of devices and improve efficiency.

3. In addition, too large TRR will also cause too long recovery time, resulting in superimposed power consumption and delay. At the same time, the reverse recovery time directly affects the maximum working frequency of rectifier devices. Therefore, high-frequency rectifier devices have strict requirements for TRR, so fast recovery rectifier diodes, Schottky and other devices with small TRR have been developed.

4. Therefore, there are many low-frequency rectifiers at the input end (front end), the requirements for diode TRR are relatively low, and the requirements for TRR at the output end (rear end) are high. Fast recovery diodes or Schottky rectifiers are often used, and MOS products are even used as rectifiers.
